Bad Drivers

Every human has their limits. Some are very thin when it comes to crossing the line while others are okay with life and with what life has to come. At times I have a thick line but the past few days, the line has been thinning. With what you may ask? Well you probally aren't asking for all of you can read my blog title, but yes, bad drivers. Here is the back story for this blog post.

I got my license back in July when I turned 16 and I still consider myself a new driver. I am not a bad driver though. I fully understand when I am going too fast or slow. I know I should use my blinkers and I also know how to drive nicely. I do not cut people off. Many of you probally know where I am going with this but the story gets way better.

Lately, people on the streets have been very cranky. They aren't driving safely at all.I've had people cut me off this weekend. Then people are too slow or just speed by without a care. Over the weekend, I probally noticed 10 bad drivers on the street. 2 of which eventually got pulled over, but one driver that I wish would improve would be my father. Thankfully he does not read my blog. He speeds, doesn't use his blinkers and changes lanes too many times. I wish he would fix this but like many other drivers, they won't. People should go through drivers education again, because that was where I learned the basis of driving. People need to relearn their basics as well!

Now, there is hope for the world. Even though there is alot of bad drivers, there are good drivers as well. If the bad drivers would become good drivers, life would be great. I wouldn't be sitting in my living room complaining about the bad drivers. Instead, I would most likely be asleep. So please, drive better and drive safely.

President's Day... & Mattresses?

PRESS THIS LINK! They will help you better understand my blog post :) Please and thank you :D

Now before I even mention the video, I want to talk about my title choice. Tomorrow is President's Day. Many of us Americans know that President's day is about celebrating our past and present Presidents and how they have changed America to what we have today. Many of us also know that President's Day is the day of ultimate MATTRESSES SALES!!!! Wait what???? Yes, Americahas resorted to using a national federal holiday for sales. First it was Easter with a bunny. Then it was Christmas with a fat old guy with a beard. Now it is we celebrate President's Day with mattress sales. That is preposterous!

This past weekend I was stuck on the couch sick. All I could do was eat, sleep and watch television. So I did just that. When it came to the tv part, almost every other commercial break was filled with mattress sale commercials! I saw Tempurpedic, Macy's, Lazboy, and various other commercials. How do mattresses connect with our past presidents?! 0%! Yet, these stores were still advertising it. It is a tad funny though. They are squeezing money out of our wallets by connecting our Presidents and mattresses. Whats next, Colombus advising us to buy the coolest new electronics? Hopefully stores don't stoop that low.

Now I want to analyze this video. The video starts out with a mattress superstore jingle. Then is a WOOOO sound. What's so wowing about a mattress superstore? It is a store that sells mattresses. Not Narnia!
Another part that bothers me is when President Abraham Lincoln pukes up mattress prices. That is gross. Lastly, it ends the same way it started. The stupid way. A jingle and wooing. Congrats to our stores for making another holiday all about sales. It really shows the love we have for our presidents when all we can show forit is our lovely matress sales.

Broadway Filled Weekend

As the title reads, my weekend was filled with full on BROADWAY. For the past 2 weeks, 250 students have filled their nights with preparing for this weekend because this weekend was follies. Follies is such a big tradition in our area in Iowa. This year I was in the Orchestra act and we preformed a mix of Smooth Criminal, Bad Romance, and Smells like Teen Spirit. Personally, I believe we rocked these songs and the act. The best part of follies was definitely what occurred back stage. :)

Most of my time at follies was spent backstage in the MIC room. Some people who joined me were Haley Mallo, Halie Greenwood, Acacia Green-harrington, Allie Frank, Rebecca Harken and Andrew Olson. Though many people joined us every minute, these people were the main occupants of the room. There was sooooo many memories created in this room this weekend, and I will share a few of them.

One memory was the food that was in this room. Cheese nips, peanut butter M&Ms, whales, carmelcorn, peach rings, sprees, and much more. The best food of them all was definently Whales. We would throw the whales into our mouths and even attempted into others. The best Whales catcher was Ande Atkinson. He would catch like 20 whales in a row before he failed to catch another.

Another great memory was a lap dance. I will not go into deep detail with this one but someone got a lap dance. Another item I will not go into will be how guys are willingly open to stripping their shirts infront of a group of girls. Both of these events were pretty hilarious!

Also before our Orchestra act came up, the Step Up dance number was up. So backstage has loud dance music going. A few of us would go around and dance(Acacia and I). Acacia was dancing beautifuly while I was just messing around. Our dancing scene was hilarious to watch.

I know that there are many more memories to share about follies but I feel I can't share them all. Follies of 2011 will never leave my mind. The idea of follies has completly changed for me now. Follies was defenintly full of spice this year. Until next time, try to add some spice to your sugary life :)

Snow Days!

On February 1st and 2nd, something tragic/amazing happened. We had two days of no school! That was because our local area was attacked by the ravaging snow monster called Battle Antarctica. We were out of school for a whole two days while Battle Antarctica attacked the states. It was great/ boring. Now you may be asking why I have two phrases back slashed together. That's because these two days of relaxation from school had mix feeling for me and probably 1000 other students at our school.

Here are the benefits of the snow days

1. Sleep in

2. Extended work time for homework/projects

3. We got to catch up with our favorite soap operas

4. Some relaxation time

Here are the disadvantages of the snow days

1. Extended school schedule into summer

2. Caught up on chores (EW!)

3. Couldn't go anywhere because cars wouldn't start

4. We are behind in school so projects/homework is rushed

5. Procrastination hit many of us like rocks.

As you can see the disadvantages out number the benefits by one, but extended school schedule into summer counts as five. So really it was outnumbered by six.

So basically my entire snow days were filled with chores and catching up on some z's. The best part was obviously getting a root beer shake! When I went there (fourth time in three weeks) I saw the same guy from Sundays! Here is the back story for this. Every Sunday for the past three weeks I've driven to Birdsalls and ordered a root beer shake with friends. Every time I go to Birdsalls the same cashier/ice cream scooper guy was there! He started to recognize me more and more every time I went. This man was hilarious too. So not expecting him to be working Wednesdays, I see him. The ice cream scooper guy made my night after endless house chores.Once I enter the door he would always say "Uh oh, look what we've got here!" Then he asked what I would like but before I could muffle out root beer shake he is already making me one! Now that is what I call star service.

The snow days were boring and basically pointless but the root beer shake made the day better. I guess the root beer shake was my spice for those two days :D Have a good few days and please avoid Battle Antarctica while sipping on a root beer shake.
